Recreation
Youth in Finland is given quite a lot of freedom in their comings and goings as Finland is a safe country. But with independence comes responsibility, and this is always expected from young people. Finnish youth are quite mature and they have a good awareness of cultural, social and world political issues.
In their free time, Finnish youth are active in sports (ice hockey, soccer, floor ball, slalom, snowboard, gym, etc.) as well as in many cultural and volunteer groups. Furthermore they like to go out to the movies, cafés, and discos, like the youth all around the world. In the summer months there are many festivals and happenings all around Finland.
Many Finnish families have their own summer cottage, where they spend many weekends and vacations relaxing. The sauna is the most usual activity at a summer cottage, along with fishing, swimming, cooking, etc.
